“Mr. Records Management” is one of the titles that people have given Harry Haxton, who has been one of the major influences in the records management profession. Both the RMAA (Records Management Association of Australia) and the AICCM (Australian Institute for the Conservation of Cultural Materials) have awarded him Honorary Life Membership for his contribution to each profession. Harry's teaching, writing, speaking and consulting to both the users and suppliers of the industry has meant that this is a title that is not only deserved but respected by all in the field.
Harry first became involved in filing when he established Commercial Archives of Australia (now Recall - Brambles Records Management) in 1972 at the forefront of the commercial records storage industry. More recently he is leading the way in the development of outsourcing Records Management services. FILEforce is the vehicle for that development.
As a consultant with 25 years experience, Harry's company FILEforce International P/L and it's wholly owned Brisbane Franchisee FILEforce Brisbane South now has more than 500 clients. They include many major organisations such as major federal, state and local government departments, property managers, mining companies, transport, service industries, medical practices, two of the ‘Big Six’ chartered accountants, and four of the largest legal firms in the country. By far the greatest and most challenging experience is in the Australia-wide advice on mergers and movers of large and small corporations.
Harry is an Economics Graduate with a major in Social Psychology. He studied for a post-graduate Diploma in Information Processing in 1970, and later developed computer software of Arthur Andersens and his own company supplying second generation Records Management Software to Government and industry in the 1980's. His understanding of the workplace stems from his personal work experience in the areas of Banking, Finance, Wholesaling, Retailing, Sales and Manufacturing, as well as a Management Consultant. Harry developed and taught Records Management courses at TAFE (Technical and Further Education), Queensland University of Technology, and University of Queensland.
