In the minds of many a tambour
cabinet is any closed cabinet. But the term possibly came from
the French "Tambour Drum" which was related in the English to be
a "SIDE DRUM". The tambour cabinet - is a side
cabinet. Because there have been a variety of side
cabinets, the TAMBOUR is generally associated with the receding door
cabinet where the front panels slide or recede into the carcass of the
cabinet and are hidden when the cabinet is open. There are excellent
cabinets for any office and come in a variety of heights and widths.
The most popular being the 900 and 1200mm width. To achieve this the
actual cabinet is approx 950 and 1250mm in width to accommodate the
mechanism. These cabinets are popular where locking of the cabinet
is essential eg in the personnel department, computer software,
accessories etc.
