Shelf boxes are used as a modern alternative to the pigeon hole and toast rack style file retaining system. They are designed to keep the files in an upright state while sitting on the shelves. The files, particularly when using colour coding ensures that the colour band used to indicate misplaced files is in a straight line and works to be greatest advantage. There are various types of shelf box:-
Among the advantages of the box over the toast rack is that they are more easily shuffled when you need to create more room on the shelf. USEFUL HINTIf you are in transition from vertical to lateral filing, the shelf box can be used before you move to the new housing. Place the converted lateral files into the box, and place the box into the Four Drawer Cabinet. When you move, just take the boxes and leave the cabinet. |
