Mobile desk unit is a utility cabinet placed under workstations.  This is generally considered to be a "Personal" storage unit where the office worker can place the things that they hold near and dear to themselves.

Generally speaking they contain

Top Drawer - to pencils, pens and related stationery

Bottom Drawer - For files, and reference material.  (It is more commonly used for the storage of Bags, Helmets and clothes).

The drawers in most units are designed to take a standard foolscap folder inside a vertical suspension sleeve.  In my opinion, this is not the best thing for a modern office where the files are generally kept in the group storage area in the Lateral Mode, and are not compatible with the files in the rest of the organisation

Bottom Cupboard - is now becoming more acceptable.  Any is my preferred configuration.  This allows either for the storage of personal items (especially large items like Bike Helmets).

The cupboard allows for the storage of both lateral and hanging files as shown in the illustration.
